When going on safari, it's best to pack light using soft-sided travel bags that you can carry easily. Hard-case suitcase and trolleys may not fit easily into safari vehicles and may get damaged on dirt/gravel pathways in the African bush. You can always wash clothes if you are going on a longer trip.
Bring sturdy clothes and equipment that can withstand a rough journey on bumpy roads. Avoid white and very light colors, as the dust from the African bush is likely to make your clothes look gray. Natural colors such as brown and khaki are ideal.
The sun can be very intense, so make sure to bring appropriate sun protection. At sunset, however, temperatures usually drop significantly, so you'll also need a warm change of clothes.
Specifically, we recommend you to bring the following items. Please adjust the number of individual items of clothing to the duration of your safari and be sure to add any items of a personal nature that you might need.
In summer, lightweight, lightcoloured cottons are preferable. Avoid synthetic materials and black clothing, as they increase perspiration and discomfort. In winter, wear trousers, longsleeved shirts, blouses and jerseys. From May – August, night temperatures can fall below zero degrees celsius, so warm jerseys and jackets are vital, especially on morning and evening game drives. Garments of neutral colors that blend with the bush and forest are advisable for safaris and game viewing. Closed, comfortable walking shoes or gym shoes are a must in all seasons. Special attention should be given to protection from the sun. Bring a sunhat, good quality sunscreen, sun lotion and polarised sunglasses. Wide brimmed sun hats are essential.
When in Zimbabwe the cardinal rule is to wear casual, comfortable clothes during the day as temperatures can get very hot. It is advisable to wear light loose-fitting clothing, such as cotton or linen, as they are cool and easy to wash. Warmer clothes are advised for the evenings and rainwear for the wet season.
A brimmed hat and sunglasses are a good idea year-round. Long-sleeved shirts and long trousers will also guard against the scorching sun rays. It is recommended you wear light shoes, especially if your itinerary entails a lot of walking. For safaris, please remember to wear appropriate clothing and shoes. Earth color clothes, such as brown, green and tan are advisable.
Please keep valuables with you during your travels and do not place them in your checked luggage. Upon arrival, you may also store them in a safe with the front desk of your hotel.
It’s best to secure all bags that you do not carry with you with a padlock in order to prevent theft. This includes your checked luggage during your flights, any bags you leave at your hotel, as well as any bags that you leave with your driver, guide, or porters. We regret that we are unable to accept any liability for any items lost or stolen.
Electrical sockets (outlets) in Botswana are the 'Type M' South African SABS1661 ('Large' 15 amp BS-546) sockets. This is actually an old British standard. The 'Type M' South African plug and socket is not to be confused with the 'Type D' Indian plug and socket. In pictures, they look very similar, but the South African type is much larger than the Indian type, and they are physically incompatible. If your appliance's plug doesn't match the shape of these sockets, you will need a travel plug adapter in order to plug in. Travel plug adapters simply change the shape of your appliance's plug to match whatever type of socket you need to plug into.
Electrical sockets (outlets) in Botswana usually supply electricity at between 220 and 240 volts AC. If you're plugging in an appliance that was built for 220-240 volt electrical input, or an appliance that is compatible with multiple voltages, then an adapter is all you need.
But travel plug adapters do not change the voltage, so the electricity coming through the adapter will still be the same 220-240 volts the socket is supplying. If you need to use appliances that are not compatible with 220-240 volt electrical input, you will need a voltage converter.
Electrical sockets in the Republic of Zimbabwe are Type G (BS-1363) and Type C (CEE 7/16 Europlug) and Type D (BS-546). If your appliance's plug doesn't match the shape of these sockets, you will need a travel plug adapter in order to plug in. Travel plug adapters simply change the shape of your appliance's plug to match whatever type of socket you need to plug into. If it's crucial to be able to plug in no matter what, bring an adapter for all types.
Electrical sockets usually supply electricity at 230 volts AC / 50 Hz frequency. If you're plugging in an appliance that was built for 230 volt electrical input, or an appliance that is compatible with multiple voltages, then an adapter is all you need. If your appliance isn’t compatible with 230 volts, a voltage converter will be necessary.
We recommend you to carry with you enough masks and hand sanitisers to protect yourself and others in your party from Covid-19. However, since recommendations often change, we strongly advise you to check the WHO Covid-19 travel advice page for more information.
Botswana's climatic pattern is typical of southern Africa, although its rainfall is less than countries further east. The rains in Botswana come mostly between December and March, when average minimum temperatures are in the low 20°C. Some days will be bright and sunny, some will have afternoon thunderstorms, and some will just be grey.
As with Namibia, April and May in Botswana are generally lovely, with the sky clear and the landscape green. Night temperatures start to drop during these months, especially in the Kalahari. Note that places in and around the Okavango tend to have less extreme, more moderate temperatures than the drier areas of the Kalahari.
From June to August the night-time temperatures in drier areas can be close to freezing, but it warms up rapidly during the day, when the sky is usually clear and blue.
This continues into September and October, when temperatures climb again, drying the landscapes and concentrating the game even more. This is the best time for big game safaris, although October can feel very hot, with maximum temperatures sometimes approaching 40°C.
November is difficult to predict, as it can sometimes be a continuation of October's heat, whilst sometimes it's cooled by the first rains; it's always an interesting month.
In Zimbabwe, the rains come principally in December, January, February and March; the further north you are, the earlier the precipitation arrives and the later it leaves. Zimbabwe's higher eastern areas usually receive more rainfall than the lower-lying western ones.
By April and May most of the rain is gone, leaving a verdant setting, which is starting to dry out. Especially in more southerly and higher locations, the night-time temperatures start to drop.
The nights in June, July and August become much cooler, so don't forget to bring some warmer clothes, in case you want to spend an evening outside; the days are still clear and warm. For Zimbabwe this is the start of the 'peak season', days are often cloudless and game sightings continually increase.
Into September and October the temperatures rise once again: Zimbabwe's lower-lying rift valley, Mana Pools, can get very hot in October. During this time, you'll see some fantastic game, as the Zimbabwe's wildlife concentrates around the limited water sources.
November is unpredictable; it can be hot and dry, it can also see the season's first rainfalls – and in this respect it's a very interesting month, as on successive days, you can see both weather patterns.
Guests in a conservancy benefit from an authentic safari experience on exclusive game-filled land, away from the crowds of tourists in the National Parks and Reserves. Game drives are with professional safari guides in 4×4 vehicles. Guests enjoy escorted walks with Maasai warriors and can search for nocturnal species on exhilarating night game drives – unlike in the government-run National Parks where these are not permitted.
You also get the chance to be as close as possible to the animals since in the Conservancies there is no road to follow and therefore no off-road ban (as there is in National Parks). The income from the camps is used to manage and improve the conservancies, pay the lease and tourist entry fees and pay salaries of the camp staff and the conservancy rangers and workers.
Safari lodges and camps serve international-style cuisine, generally of an extremely high standard, along with local beer and imported wine and spirits. Good restaurants and bars can be found in main towns, often within hotels. Beef and goat are very popular meats. Elsewhere, food is more basic: millet and sorghum porridge are the local staples.
Tap water is considered safe to drink, although outside main cities and towns, visitors are advised to check first and sterilise water if in any doubt. Bottled water is available in most tourist centres and filtered water is mostly available at camps. It is advised to be well stocked of bottled water if you are traveling off the beaten track. Milk is pasteurised, and dairy products, local meat, poultry, seafood, fruit and vegetables are generally safe.
A discretionary five-to-ten-percent tip is typical for restaurant bills. In many places, a service charge is automatically added.
Zimbabwe's native cuisine is based on sadza, a cooked porridge made from ground maize which is normally be accompanied by some tasty relish, perhaps made of meat and tomatoes, or dried fish. Safari camps will often prepare sadza if requested, and it is almost always available in small restaurants in the towns.
Camps, hotels and lodges that cater to overseas typically serve a variety international fare, and the quality of food prepared in the most remote bush camps is usually excellent. If you are driving yourself around and plan to cook, then get most of your supplies in main towns. There are a number of South African shopping chains operating in Zimbabwe which will generally have all that you will need.
Water in the main towns is usually purified. The locals drink it, and are used to the relatively innocuous bugs that it may harbour. If you are in the country for a long time, then it may be worth acclimatising yourself to it. However, if you are in Zimbabwe for just a short period of time, then try to drink only bottled, boiled, or treated water available in towns and from all camps, lodges and hotels.
Public transport in Botswana is geared towards the needs of the local populace and is confined to main roads between major population centres. Although cheap and reliable, it is of little use to the traveler as most of Botswana’s tourist attractions lie off the beaten track.
Driving off the main roads in Botswana is only recommended to expects in 4x4 vehicles, that are equipped correctly. Most lodges offer transfers or they can be arranged. If, however, you will be driving in Botswana: your home driving licence will be accepted (with an official English translation if necessary; driving is on the left side of the road; and the national speed limit is on tarred roads is 120km/h and 60km/h in towns and villages.
Be sure to watch out for wild animals on the roads!
Taxis are safe and reliable, and can be booked through your hotel front desk. Taxis in cities travel within a 40km radius of the city. Always take a taxi at night.
Zimbabwe has a good road infrastructure, by African standards, although potholed. Between major towns, there are frequent road blocks. Traffic drives on the left side of the road. If you are driving yourself around Zimbabwe, be sure to check on fuel availability in advance. If you are covering long distances within the country, ensure you carry extra fuel in 5 or 10lt metal containers in case of emergency. Fuel is generally available, but supply can fluctuate. Fuel is only available for cash.
Currency
Botswana's currency is Pula (which means 'rain' in Setswana). It is divided into 100 thebe (which means 'shield' in Setswana). Travelers' cheques and foreign currency may be changed at banks, bureaux de change and authorised hotels.
The US dollar, Euros, British Pound and the South African Rand are the most easily convertible currencies (and accepted by some establishments - but, generally, then an inflated rate of exchange will be applied).
Banking
Seven main commercial banks, as well as a number of foreign exchange bureaux, operate in Botswana. Operating hours are Monday to Friday 08h30 - 15h30 and Saturday 08h30 - 10h45.
Full banking services are available in major towns, although ATMs are sprouting up all over the country. Most credit cards are accepted at hotels and restaurants. Cultural sites and community art and craft outlets usually only accept cash.
Currency
Zimbabwe uses its own unit of currency, the Zimbabwe Dollar. No other currency is accepted. Do not plan on being able to use cash machines in Zimbabwe to draw money. Before leaving home please exchange all the money that you will need for your trip. Most of this should be in 1, 5, 10 and 20 denominations because change is not always available. In an emergency you can try Barclays Bank, Stanbic Bank or Standard Chartered Bank as they will infrequently accept foreign debit cards for withdrawing cash.
Banking
Banks in Zimbabwe are open for business Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 08h00 to 15h00, on Wednesdays from 08h00 - 13h00 and Saturdays from 08h00 - 11h30. They are closed on Sundays and Public Holidays.
Only VISA and MasterCard are accepted in Zimbabwe, however it should be noted that very limited facilities will have credit card machines, and the connection is not always reliable so it is advisable to carry cash as back up.
Easy, secure, and responsive We used Fair Voyage to book our Kilimanjaro Hike and 2 Day Safari. If you are like me, you probably googled and contacted 20+ companies trying to find the right fit. My initial contact with Fair Voyage was with Alex. The responsiveness and level of detail stood out immediately. We started the booking process 20 months prior to the trip and when I said we would make our decision in 6 months, I wasn't pestered with continuous emails. 6 months came and went, and I received a follow up email on if I was still interested with moving forward. ... read moreWe used Fair Voyage to book our Kilimanjaro Hike and 2 Day Safari. I was passed on from Alex to Valentina, who was equally helpful and responsive. I was impressed with the professionalism and level of concern as we navigated in the COVID-19 crisis. In the end we decided to follow through with our trip and were 100% happy with the local operators Fair Voyage paired us with.
Fair Voyage uses a built in website platform to collect payment and traveler details. Compared to some other companies I saw, this platform felt very safe and secure, along with being easy to use. I had no worries about entering my payment information and was comfortable through the whole process. It also allowed us to communicate directly with our local operator, while Fair Voyage is able to monitor and assure we are being taken care of!
If you are looking to book a wonderful vacation with people who care and focus on sustainable tourism and ethical treatment for operators; you will not find a better company than Fair Voyage!
Thank you so much Alex and Valentia, for everything!! read less
Great Company! Fair Voyage was great to work with when planning our Amboseli safari and Kilimanjaro Climb. Valentina was so helpful providing recommendations as we customized our itinerary. She helped us find a local operator that could guide us the whole time across both Kenya and Tanzania. The guides were friendly and took great care of us. The food on the mountain was delicious, to our surprise. And we love the company's focus on sustainable tourism and enduring porters are treated ethically
Amazing planning, communication, and comfort from start to finish We worked with Alex at Fair Voyage to plan our trip to Tanzania and had an amazing time. She was always quick to respond, flexible when it came to making adjustments to the trip or schedule, and helpful in getting us the best deals while still ensuring an ethical and safe adventure.

I was skeptical of making payments to an international company for a trip in Africa, but the payment portal provided by Fair Voyage was reputable and easy-to-understand. It also allowed us to pay for portions of the trip at different times.
Fair Voyage’s approach at making sure the porters and guides you work with are treated in an ethical and responsible manner made us rest easy knowing that we picked the right company. I would highly recommend working with Fair Voyage (and particularly Alex) for your trip to Tanzania! read less
It was amazing! We were very happy with our tour to the peak of Kilimanjaro. All four of us made it to the top and that is because of our guides. Joshua and Babu were encouraging and helpful the entire trip. They helped us believe we would make it to Uhuru Peak – and we did!
The excellent service provided by our guide Joshua made an incredibly challenging journey very successful. There is no way our group would have made it to the summit without the expertise, knowledge, and professionalism of the entire crew of guides, cooks and porters. They made sure we were happy, healthy, and never hungry. I would highly recommend this crew and company for other people looking to check this amazing bucket list item off your list. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I promise you will never forget.
Experience + genuine care = perfect! From the start -- perusing the website -- to the post-climb check-ins, everything with Fair Voyage was perfect! ...and that's just from my perspective as a hiker. Knowing that care is also extended to the porters and the environment is also crucial for me. I can't wait to book another trip with Fair Voyage!
It’s a good way to connect with local operators and ensure you are safe and that the staff on your tour are treated well. Extremely knowledgeable, well organized and well prepared. Health and safety was always the top priority in conversations.
Tanzania Kili hike and safari Just returned from 2 weeks in Tanzania---8 day Lemosho route for the Kili climb and four day photo sarafi in Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro. The entire trip was exceptional! From the professionalism of Fair Voyage to the people (fellow hikers, guides, porters), food, accommodations, etc. I could not be more pleased with our experience! Thank you Fair Voyage!!
When we looked at the KPAP list many of the local companies had great reviews but very little information about routes, prices, etc on their websites so it was hard to compare. Many Western operators had lots of info on their websites but much higher prices for basically the same trip. Fair Voyage seemed to give us the best of both worlds.
I could not thank you enough for the organization of this wonderful trip. My guides did an amazing job that made us feel safe all through the climbs. We did enjoyed our time on both Meru and Kilimanjaro. We are very happy to have summited both mountains but it is the whole experience with the guides and the porters that made it so special. Because Fair Voyage is an independent agency that do business only with local operators who subscribe to the fair treatment of carriers and whose quality standards are high, you know that booking through Fair Voyage will allow you to have a safe trip. You also have the certainty that you will get the lowest possible price since Fair Voyage represents a large number of potential travelers for local agencies.
In addition, because they are not affiliated with a specific operator, Fair Voyage is able to offer a more personalized approach and give unbiased advice when choosing a route.
In case of problems with the local operator, it is reassuring to know that Fair Voyage will be there to represent our best interest. Finally being able to send our funds to Switzerland rather than Africa to pay for our trip also represents additional security. read less
Amazing Trip to Tanzania, would definetly book again! I went on a 5-day safari to northern Tanzania in Febuary and it was a wonderful experience. Our guide and driver was very nice and was happy to answer all our questions about the animals. The accomodations are unique and comfortable, the staff was always helpful, very tasty food.

Such a wonderful experience! Such a perfect experience. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to hike Kilimanjaro! I liked everything! The guides, the rest of the crew, the food was amazing and the rest of my hiking group was wonderful!

Alexandra at FV was very responsive and friendly, and answered all of the random questions that popped up. FV also made the payment process very simple, easy, and stress-free. It is difficult to plan a safari/Kilimanjaro trip, as it seems like there are infinite options and possibilities in terms of local operators. It was really wonderful to be able to rely on FV to help us find the best guides and accommodations, and to know that we were supporting businesses with a commitment to environmental sustainability and ethical treatment of employees. A great company to help find responsible tour operators Choosing a Kilimanjaro tour company is no easy task. Fair Voyage was my partner during the entire process. They helped me find a responsible company that fit within my budget. They also helped by providing lots of supplemental info like a packing list, visa info, etc. As a budget solo traveler, I was given 5 star service.
Great Kili Climb with Responsible Operator Alexandra helped me plan a successful tour and summit of Kilimanjaro. She was patient in walking me through all my options and always responsive despite our time zone difference and the last minute nature of my trip. If you want to make sure you are going with a KPAP operator, Fair Voyage makes it easy. I highly recommend their services.
Great experience with Fair Voyage! I came across Fair Voyage in my search for an ethical Kilimanjaro climb and they were able to connect me to a fantastic local tour company. They also provided all material necessary for a smooth climb and the experience was incredibly positive. Alex was extremely helpful as well! Definitely recommend you book through Fair Voyage!

I love Africa and I know that if I were to go there again for a trip, I would only consult Fair Voyage to ensure that my journey will be awesome, unforgettable and, above all, sustainable. I hope I’ll have another opportunity and that other destinations will be available as well. Keep up the great work!
I would highly recommend Fair Voyage, this is because I was with Alex in my home country and loved the attention she gave to details of the treatment of Mt kenya climb Crew and her concern for environmental conservation. Her platform makes it easy to choose between options which companies to contract when planning for holiday to Africa.
I had a wonderful experience and I very much enjoyed the service provided . . . The guides, porters, cooks, and the rest of the team were great and were instrumental in helping me reach the summit:)
The team was very professional. The daily briefings were informative and detailed. We had all the support we needed for a successful summit. The cook was amazing and catered to our vegetarian needs.
Better than expected . . . experienced team . . . friendly and knowledgeable . . . felt safe the whole way . . . great equipment . . .
Having met Alex on a bicycle trip across Africa, I was really inspired by her passion and commitment to provide a platform that allows others to arrange ethical and conscious travel. Fair Voyage is a top notch organisation with an amazing mission, and I look forward to arranging my next trip with them!
Very well organised, great local partnership [translated from German: “Sehr gut organisiert, sehr tolle lokale Partnerschaft”]
Everything was perfect. Great patient guide
The climb was fantastic, and I made it to the top! Everything you had organized worked out well, thanks so much again.
Very reassuring service. I did not get the first confirmation email, but Alex followed up with a personal email and was helpful during our communications. Very pleased.
Fair Voyage is a travel agency registered in Switzerland. We are a member of the Swiss Travel Association STAR and insured by Swiss Travel Security STS (see our listing at https://star.ch). The company is registered under the full name Fair Voyage AG at c/o Impact Hub Zurich Association, Sihlquai 131, 8005 Zurich (see our business registration at https://zefix.ch). Fair Voyage is operating the website FairVoyage.com and related channels. Any references on this site or in this document in correspondence to "Fair Voyage", "FairVoyage.com", "us", "we", "our" or "ours" refer to Fair Voyage AG .
Fair Voyage does not organize its own tours or activities but represents tour operators, activity organizers and other service providers (Operators, each an Operator) to promote and facilitate the sale of the tours, activities or services (Tours, each a Tour) that they organize and operate. We operate this online platform at FairVoyage.com and related websites or applications to connect responsible Operators with travellers (our Services), in consideration for which we collect a fee only from Operators (not from travellers).
Any contracts for Tours are to be made directly between you and the Operator. Fair Voyage is not able to influence or control any Operator or Tour. The Operators, not Fair Voyage, are solely responsible for honouring any confirmed bookings and making available any Tours reserved through us.
In addition to our terms and conditions (Terms and Conditions), each Operator may have their own additional requirements or terms and conditions applicable to a Tour (Operator T&C), available in the booking section of the Tour or on reservation or booking request.
By using any information or services provided by Fair Voyage, including the FairVoyage.com or affiliated websites, you agree to be legally bound to the following Terms and Conditions, which shall take effect immediately. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all the following Terms & Conditions, please do not use our information or website or services. In all cases, the person making the booking shall be deemed to have accepted these Terms and Conditions on behalf of all the other person(s) included in their booking.
By reserving a Tour through Fair Voyage, you further accept the applicable Operator T&C of the Operator providing your Tour. If you are an Operator, you also agree to our Terms of Business.
All Tours are organized and operated by Operators. They may or may not be available at the time of your booking request. None of the Tours or other information on FairVoyage.com or our other promotional channels constitutes an offer binding to us. Any booking will always be subject to availability.
Reservation or Booking Request
If you wish to make a reservation or booking for a Tour, please follow the steps via the "Reserve Now" or "Book Now" button on our website or such other steps as we may provide to you via our chat bot, email, social media, or other channels. When you see the option to "Reserve", this means that you may submit a non-binding reservation request to confirm your Tour price and availability. To do so, no payment details are required (Reservation Request). When you see the option to "Book", this means that you may directly submit a binding booking request which will automatically lead to a confirmed booking, subject to the process outlined below. To do so, payment details are required (Booking Request).
Reservation or Booking Confirmation
Once we receive your Reservation Request or Booking Request for a Tour, the Operator will be requested to confirm availability normally within 48 hours (or as soon as possible thereafter in case of weekends or public holidays). You will receive a reservation or booking confirmation by email (Reservation Confirmation or Booking Confirmation) from us on behalf of the Operator (including the Operator's name and contact details), or the reservation or booking will be cancelled automatically if the Operator does not confirm availability within the defined time period. As we may use our automated email and messaging system to deliver your confirmation or other important communications related to your Booking Request, please add booking@email.fairvoyage.com to your address book to help us get these emails into your inbox.
Payment Schedule
The Tour price payment schedule as set out below (Payment Schedule) is the same for all Tours, independent whether initiated by you via a Reservation Request or a Booking Request. The process of when you submit your payment details and when your booking becomes binding for you differs between a Reservation Request and Booking Request as follows: (a) When you submit a Reservation Request and consequently receive a Reservation Confirmation, you will be required to make the payment as per the Payment Schedule usually within 72 hours (unless otherwise stated) if – and only if – you wish to proceed with the booking. We will then email you a Booking Confirmation. If we do not receive your payment within the stipulated timeline, your reservation will be cancelled automatically. (b) When you submit a Booking Request, you agree that we may pre-authorize a charge on your credit card, bank card, bank account or other payment account (each a Payment Account) provided by you up to the amount of the Tour price at the time of your Booking Request. You further agree that we may charge your Payment Account if the Operator confirms availability within 120 hours (5 days) of your Booking Request according to the Payment Schedule.
Payment Schedule:
In the case of a Booking Request: If an Operator has already pre-confirmed the availability of a Tour, we may charge your Payment Account immediately during checkout at the time of your Booking Request. When we provide you the option to make a payment by bank transfer, we will normally only charge your credit card if we have not received the due amount (1) day prior to the above due dates. Any double charges due to delays in processing times, such as bank holidays, will be refunded.
Please note that Fair Voyage cannot control any fees that may be charged to you by your bank related to our collection or your transfer of payments, and we disclaim all liability in this regard.
Payment Confirmation and Confirmed Bookings
Upon receipt of each of the Deposit and remaining Tour price payment, or full Tour price payment, we email you a payment confirmation (Payment Confirmation). Your booking is not confirmed until we have emailed you the Booking Confirmation and applicable first Payment Confirmation. Your booking further remains subject to your compliance with other applicable terms and conditions.
Payments on Arrival
For certain add-on services or purchases related to your Tour, you may have the option to pay on arrival . This may include equipment rentals, accommodation upgrades, purchases of food and beverages, or any other Tour upgrades or purchases required or desirable by you to participate in your Tour (Add-On Services, each an Add-On Service). For any such payments, please note that it is your responsibility to ensure that you bring a locally acceptable means of payment to secure your Add-On Service(s). Especially in developing countries and remote regions, please note that cash machines or credit card machines may not always be available, and – even if available – may not work due to machine outages or poor network connectivity. Furthermore, local banks may charge significant fees for cash withdrawal or card payments. We therefore strongly advice that you bring sufficient cash in a locally acceptable currency for all your intended payments locally.
Liability for other individuals in your booking
If your booking includes other individuals, you assume all liability also for those individuals. It is your responsibility to ensure that they have read these Terms and Conditions.
Currency
Unless specifically stated otherwise, rates on this site are in US dollars, which is usually also the currency for your payment.
Timezone
Please note that all dates and times indicated on FairVoyage.com refer to the timezone of the Tour location, unless specified otherwise.
If you would like to make changes to your confirmed booking, such as add additional services or items to your Tour, we and your local Tour Operator will do our best to meet your requirements, subject to availability and feasibility. Please inform us at least 14 days prior to your Tour start of any desired changes. An administrative fee of US$100 (Change Fee) will be charged to process each change. For Tour cancellations, please refer to our Cancellations and Refunds Policy. If you would like to cancel only individual services or items that were priced separately (such as transfers, equipment rentals, additional accommodation or accommodation upgrades), we regret that we cannot refund such amounts.
Your Tour itinerary was written to provide helpful information to you about your destination and activities, and to be representative of most Tours which follow the same itinerary of itinerary steps. Variations are possible at the discretion of your local guide and Tour Operator to deliver the best possible experience to you within the constraints of external, group-specific and your personal circumstances.
If you need to change your itinerary during your Tour (for example as might be required due to sickness, accident or personal emergencies), please note that you will need to pay your local Operator directly and immediately any additional costs incurred, such as for transfers, meals, or accommodation. No refunds can be made for those parts of your Tour that you will no longer be able to participate in.
When making your travel arrangements, please consider that flights or other transportation to your Tour start location might get delayed. Furthermore, it happens that luggage gets lost or displaced. Any such late arrivals may cause major problems for organized Tours. While your Operator will make best efforts to help in such situations, you will need to pay your local Operator directly & immediately any additional costs incurred, such as for transportation or hiring of equipment. When it is not possible to change your itinerary to accommodate late arrivals, you may not be able to participate in the Tour, and your Tour price will be forfeited. We therefore strongly recommend that you plan to arrive two to three days prior to the start of your Tour, and that you wear or carry in your hand luggage all essential items required for your Tour.
Unless stated differently for a Tour, the following terms and conditions apply to cancellations and/or refunds:
The Change Fee applies and will be deducted from any refunds.
In the unlikely event that an Operator cancels a Tour, you are in most cases entitled to a full refund of your Tour price that you have already paid, or your Operator may offer you to apply those funds to another Tour operated by them, all of which is subject to the Operator T&C. We will also assist you in rebooking your Tour with another provider, where possible. In the unlikely event that a Tour Operator cancels a confirmed booking and the cancellation information comes solely from them and not in addition from us, please contact us at support@fairvoyage.com. Furthermore, in the unlikely event of any disputes between you and your Tour Operator that you cannot resolve directly, please also contact us at support@fairvoyage.com.
Please note that payment transaction fees such as credit card fees, bank fees and exchange rates may mean any amount refunded is different from the amount originally paid, particularly in instances where a currency exchange is involved. Fair Voyage has no control over any such fees or exchange rates and is unable to accept responsibility for any such discrepancies in refunded amounts.
If you cannot travel as a result of new legally imposed quarantines, travel restrictions or flight cancellations resulting from COVID-19, you will have the option to transfer your trip to a later date free of charge (subject to cost increase), or get a travel credit for another trip booked with us in future, or a full refund should we no longer be able to operate the trip for you.
These conditions vary depending on all local suppliers involved in operating your trip and are currently still subject to frequent change. If you would like to proceed with a booking, please contact us and we will advice you the specific conditions applicable for this trip at your time of booking.
For bookings made until April 2020: If you can no longer travel due to legally imposed quarantines or travel restrictions resulting from COVID-19, we will do our upmost to help you receive your money back or postpone your trip free of charge (subject to availability, cost increases and agreement by your local travel service providers). Depending on the nature of your trip, non-refundable amounts are being used to secure local park permits, accommodations and other non-refundable costs incurred locally to make local reservations and travel arrangements for your trip. If we cannot recover such payments once made by us to your Tour Operator, or indirectly once made by your Tour Operator to make your local travel arrangements, we regret that we will not be able to refund your non-refundable payments made to us. The Change Fee and transaction costs apply.
It is essential and mandatory for all bookings made via Fair Voyage that you and anyone included in your booking be covered by insurance before setting out on holiday. This insurance must cover personal accident, medical expenses, loss of effects, repatriation costs and all other expenses that might arise as a result of loss, damage, injury, delay or inconvenience. If you are undertaking a hazardous activity, your insurance must also cover this particular activity. Please ensure that the insurer is aware of the type of Tour to be undertaken.
You must also take out adequate travel cancellation insurance as soon as we have confirmed your booking, to cover your non-refundable costs in case of cancellations or changes to your Tour. Please always read your insurance terms and conditions carefully, to ensure that your particular event will be covered.
Your Operator may require proof of travel insurance before allowing you to participate in their Tour that involve hazardous activities. It is your responsibility to provide the necessary proof of insurance.
By booking a Tour via Fair Voyage, you warrant that you have adequate insurance coverage. Fair Voyage cannot accept any responsibility for financial loss or costs incurred by you that are outside of our control.
On FairVoyage.com and our other channels, we aim to publish accurate, up-to-date information regarding Tours and Operators. This information is almost always supplied by the respective Operator. It is bound to change frequently and will not always be updated as quickly as we would like. We therefore cannot guarantee the accuracy of this information. You should make your own independent enquiries with the Operator and other third parties and use your own judgment to assess the accuracy of any information accessed through FairVoyage.com.
Fair Voyage accepts no responsibility for errors, inaccuracies or omissions of any information on our website(s). This also means that we accept no responsibility for any complaints as to any part of your Tour not being as described on FairVoyage.com. However, we will make every effort to correct quickly any errors brought to our attention.
The responsibility of Fair Voyage AG as well as its employees, agents and representatives is strictly limited. Fair Voyage does not organize its own Tours and as such assumes no liability for any act or omission on the part of the Operator or any other company or individual involved in carrying out the arrangements of the Tour. Fair Voyage is not responsible for the willful or negligent acts and/or omissions of these suppliers or their employees, agents, servants or representatives including, without limitation, their failure to deliver or their partial or inadequate delivery of services.
Fair Voyage does not warrant or represent that any Tour is suitable or fit for your purpose. You should not undertake any of these Tours unless you are medically able and properly trained.
You know that Tours presented herein involve travel to isolated regions; strenuous and potentially hazardous activities (including, but not limited to, any activities in high altitudes, climbing and mountaineering, bicycle riding, or scuba diving); potentially hazardous traffic and means of transportation (including, but not limited to, roads with higher risk of accidents due to irresponsible traffic participants, or small charter planes) and potential exposure to wildlife. Therefore, these Tours may involve a significant amount of personal risk, including by way of example, personal accident, injury, disease, death, loss or damage of property, inconvenience, and discomfort. There may be no or limited access to emergency medical treatment or timely evacuation.
Furthermore, you know that many Tours require special equipment to protect your health and safety. Operators may or may not rent such equipment, which may or may not be suitable. You certify that you are familiar with the specific types of equipment and their requirements to undertake the Tour, and will make your own arrangements to have the necessary suitable equipment available during your Tour.
By submitting a booking request through FairVoyage.com, you agree, warrant and covenant that:
Insofar as Fair Voyage is unable by law or by statute to exclude its liability, then you agree that our liability to you is limited to Fair Voyage providing the Tour (or a similar Tour) again to you.
Please note that it is your responsibility to also read the Operator T&C and all the requirements applicable to your Tour carefully before making your booking and any payments. Should you not be able to locate the Operator T&C on the Tour page or have received them by email, please contact us. If you are not able to participate in a Tour because you do not meet the requirements (including, but not limited to, lack of: travel documents or visa, medical suitability, adequate proof of insurance, certificates or licenses, willingness to sign a liability waiver form), we regret that we cannot refund the Deposit or other full or partial Tour price payment made to us.
Unless explicitly stated otherwise in the Operator T&C, or if no further Operator T&C are explicitly confirmed to apply to your Tour, please note that the following applies to all Tours and Operators:
Accommodation is subject to availability at your time of booking and for your entire group. If not available, Operators may change your accommodation different from the one included in your itinerary or Booking Confirmation.
All price quotations are based on the current rates of park fees, VAT and other government taxes. Should any of these be increased or a new tax introduced (which is outside of our control or the control of any Operator), we regret that such increases will be added on to your final Tour price even if the trip has already been paid for. The final Tour price may thus be higher than the price confirmed in your Booking Confirmation, and you will need to pay the difference in order to participate in your Tour. Therefore, we strongly advice that you confirm with your insurance provider that your travel insurance will cover and protect you against such an unfortunate event.
While your Operator will do their best to deliver a satisfactory Tour experience, ensure your personal safety as well as the safety of your belongings, as well as take necessary precautions in case of emergencies, unfortunate incidents are always a possibility and often beyond your Operator's control. Your Operator and their staff shall not be held liable to you for:
The Operator’s liability is governed by the respective laws of their country of incorporation, and all claims are subject to local jurisdiction in their country of incorporation.
When you register an account or make an inquiry, you must use your real name and contact details. The use of pseudonyms is not permitted on Fair Voyage. If you register a company or other legal entity, you warrant and assure us that you have proper authorization to act in the name of the company or legal entity, respectively.
Fair Voyage will not accept bookings from persons less than 18 years of age. By making a booking request, you warrant and assure Fair Voyage that you are at least 18 years of age.
During the booking process, you will be required to provide personal information through our system, which we will share with your Operator to enable them to provide the services requested by you. Depending on the nature of your Tour, you may also be required to provide a photo ID or passport to help your Operator secure permits or make other booking arrangements for you. In exceptional cases, we may also request your photo ID to comply with anti-fraud or other compliance checks occasionally performed by our financial service providers. We do our utmost to protect your personal information. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for further details.
During your Tour, you must carry your photo ID or passport with you at all times, unless otherwise adviced by your Operator or guide. You may need to show your photo ID to your Operator at the start of your Tour to ensure that your identity matches your booking identity as well as throughout your Tour when checking in to accommodations, at entrance gates, for certain activities, in case of police check or otherwise. Your identity details must match the information that you have provided during your booking on FairVoyage.com. The same applies to any other individuals included in your booking.
We aim to develop an accurate, helpful and reliable profile of the performance of each Operator and Guide overall and for each Tour offered. Therefore, after your Tour, we encourage you to truthfully rate and review your Operator, Guide, and Tour on FairVoyage.com.
