According to the UNTWO and the Sustainable Development Goals, tourism holds the potential to end hunger, achieve food security and nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. Tourism can spur sustainable agriculture by promoting the production and supplies to hotels, and sales of local products to tourists. Agro-tourism can generate additional income while enhancing the value of the tourism experience.⠀

Examples of how tourism businesses can achieve this are buying local and green purchase (both food and agriculture) to use in tourism accommodations or on trips. They can actively support local suppliers and fair trade. Tourism businesses can involve the host community via jobs or visits to their plantations. Tourism businesses can take responsibility for the protection of wildlife and vulnerable ecosystems. Furthermore, actions to offset a potential negative climate impact can also contribute to ending hunger for those that are most affected by climate change.⠀
