SDG 1 Example: Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP)

The work of the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP) helps to reach SDG 1 to end poverty as they actively work to improve the lives of porters. Among the many crucial tasks they perform, implementing and monitoring fair porter practices at companies is among the most important ones.⠀

Fair porter practices include fair wages, tipping, proper gear and food. Furthermore, through KPAP porters also have access to educational training on, for example, money management but also HIV/AIDS awareness and First Aid. This empowers porters as they expand their skillset.⠀
