The carbon footprint offset price is based on the CO2 footprint estimate, multiplied by the price per ton of carbon. The price varies significantly, depending on the project invested in.
MyClimate assumes a price of USD 30 per ton of carbon for its average basket of projects. A significant number of those projects are based in mid and lower income countries, and a good match with the average locations of our trips.
To start with, we are using this average benchmark. Over time, we plan to curate projects more specifically for each of the locations of our trips, which may lead to a small deviation in the final price.
