Phortse village – Dingboche (4,350 m/14,304 ft) 5 – 6 hrs. Hike | Fair Voyage

OUR TOP PICKS FOR YOU – LOVED BY FAIR VOYAGE TRAVELERS

Leaving Phortse behind, we take the high trail that's considered to be one of the most beautiful trails with an outstanding view of the enormous mountains and deep valleys.

We gradually ascent while walking on a dry hill along the rock-strewn trail that crosses typical Sherpa villages like Pangboche. We visit its ancient monastery that's constructed around a rock where a legendary lama once meditated. The dim interior is filled with ancient sculptures, crumbling remains, wrathful idols behind sealed doors, and the exaggerated appearances of carved masks used in ritual summer dances.

We then carry on towards Shomare, at 4,120m, where we stop for our lunch. On the way, we might spot the musk deer, mountain goats, and different birds. The entire day, we can enjoy magnificent views of the Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and the world-class Mount Everest.

We continue up to the glacial valley to Dingboche passing some of Khumbu’s beautifully carved prayer stones. It takes around 3 hours to reach Dingboche from Somare. By entering the outskirts of Dingboche, we see the Buddhist Stupa. Dingboche lies at the foot of the soaring Amadablam Mountain and myriad other mountains which were hidden from our views when in Namche.

Highlights:

- You might see the musk deer, mountain goats and varied range of birds.
- Visit the 600-year-old monastery at Pangboche.
- Vistas of many other snow-capped peaks which were hidden from the view in Namche. The fantastic skyline will go beyond the expectation.
- You can see countless Mani stones (carved with the Tibetan Buddhist mantra om mani Padme hum).
- Observe lots of yaks and make grazing over a slope of the cliff.
