Our carbon footprint calculation is powered by Compensaid (powered by Lufthansa), who in turn are powered by MyClimate for their carbon footprint calculation inputs.
The biggest carbon impact of our trips is the one caused by flying, and we recognize that impact even when travelers do not book their flights with us.
Our flight calculator allows travelers to easily calculate and offset their footprint, exactly based on the exact flights they are taking:
- Distance calculated based on airport-to-airport connections (i.e. recognizing the impact of non-direct vs. direct flights)
- Ticket category (Economy, Premium Economy, Business, or First Class)
- Different from Atmosfair (another carbon offset solution which we consider very reputable), Compensaid (powered by MyClimate) does not consider the specific type of plane used and other parameters. However, we consider this a minor inaccuracy that we consciously choose to accept for the benefit of also being able to offer the purchase of Sustainable Aviation Fuel via Compensaid.
